So...
blogging last year didn't exactly pan out the way I had hoped. (Aaaaand by that I mean to say that it didn't happen at all!)
But out with the old and in with the new!
As the first day of school is rapidly approaching my doorstep, I am ready to give blogging about my teaching another go. I have had a personal blog for years now and love being able to look back on the memories made and see just how far I have come. I truly believe that blogging about this large part of my life will be very helpful in my teaching practice and will strive to keep that belief alive as the days get filled with prepping, analyzing, paperwork, and loving life in first grade.
I am getting a later start to this year than ever before, however the wheels have been turning all summer and my fingers have been doing lots and lots of website searching and pinning. Ooooh Pinterest! How I do LOVE thee!
First order of business...classroom website.
Last year, my intern introduced me to this great site for hosting a class web page over at Weebly. It was a great site with lots of customizable options....
but...
I just couldn't get used to it. Using blogger for almost 10 years has made it difficult for me to trade sites. I ran into the same issues when I tried to use Blogmeister. (Although, I still have hopes of having my kiddos blog using this site...)
Not being familiar with either site made for long nights trying to get my page and posts to look exactly the way I wanted them to and in the end I wound up being frustrated, tired, and not wanting to post. The exact opposite of why I want a class blog in the first place.
So, while the other sites are great, and I know lots of teachers have success with them, this year I am coming back to my beloved blogger! I have just started to set up my class page and am already getting excited at the thought of how much time this will save me!
I plan to post on my class site regularly in lieu of doing a newsletter. I will have a calender, links, photos, and videos to keep parents in the loop. The great thing about this is that I really feel like blogger is super easy to navigate and posting takes me next to no time at all!
And that, my friends, means more time at home with my family!
WIN. WIN.
